Traveling from Mankato to Minneapolis?

When you arrive at the Hawthorne bus station in downtown Minneapolis, here are a few places you’ll want to explore and take a closer look inside.

Target Field

We couldn’t start our list without first mentioning a trip to the Twin’s stadium. Located in the historic warehouse district, this Minnesota ballpark offers delicious foods, refreshing drinks, and plenty of entertainment—whether you like Major League Baseball or not. You can shop for Twin’s gear, enjoy a game with friends, or just lay back and soak up the sunshine with a hot dog and a drink in hand.

Mill City Museum/Stone Arch Bridge

If you love history, you’ll love the Mill City Museum. Learn about the historic flour mill and how it gave Minneapolis the bragging rights as the “Flour Milling Capital of the World.” Then take a stroll across the historic Stone Arch Bridge, a picturesque pedestrian and bicycle bridge that spans the Mississippi River and offers stunning views of the skyline.

Inbound Brewing

While you’re at the stadium, if your group gets a little thirsty, just take a short walk down N. 5th Street to enjoy a classic local beer. Inbound Brewing is always crafting up something unique that will delight your taste buds. They offer a cozy indoor and outdoor area for you to relax with a pint, and there’s always a food truck on site to offer delicious cuisine.

Not a fan of beer? No worries, Adjacent to this brewery is Number 12 Cider, which offers a great atmosphere, tasty cider options, and wood-fired pizzas topped with fresh, local ingredients.

U.S. Bank Stadium

If you decide to hop on the Metro Green Line, get off at U.S. Bank Stadium for a tour of the Viking’s ship, pro shop, and football field. This is a great stopping area to also explore all the exciting shops, eateries, and parks located nearby.

Gold Medal Park

Speaking of parks, after you visit the stadium, head down 11th Ave South to explore one of the best hidden treasures in downtown Minneapolis. Gold Medal Park offers the perfect setting for a scenic walk, picnic, and some sculpture artwork. This area offers a quiet break from the busy city and endless trails that allow you to walk along the Mississippi River.

On weekends, you can also check out the Mill City Farmers Market—a less than 10 minute walk from the park—to browse local arts and crafts, fresh produce, and much more! And while your down there, if you’re looking for some entertainment, the Guthrie Theater offers incredible live performances.

Let’s be honest. You could spend the entire day in the Mill City District and never get bored!

Aster Cafe

It’s a little bit of a hike, but lucky for you, Minneapolis offers plenty of transportation options, including Nice Ride for a scenic bike tour or Lime for scootering around the city . If you decide to venture out on a gorgeous day, you can cross the Mississippi River on Central Ave SE and stop in for a bite to eat at Aster Cafe. We promise; it’s worth the energy!

This local cafe offers a mouthwater menu, crafty cocktails, and a breathtaking outdoor patio area that lights up at night. If you stop in for brunch, we recommend the Tres Leches french toast!

This is an ideal place to meet up with friends and relax during your trip to Minneapolis.
